Richard Coberg, PHD
Board Chair

Dr. Coberg  is an adjunct professor in the College of Liberal Studies at the University of Oklahoma and serves as the Board Chair and Founder of Educational Alternatives, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving public awareness of community mobilization issues.  At the University of Oklahoma, Dr. Coberg teaches classes that deal with human relations, group dynamics, organizational change and development of team dynamics, and grant writing.

Dr. Coberg received his doctorate in Lifelong Learning from the University of Oklahoma in 1982.  He is sought as a speaker and instructor in many areas, including grant writing and development, community mobilization, team and coalition building, student development, adult learning practices, and traffic safety issues.  He is increasingly being asked to share his expertise in  community and neighborhood safety and partnership building.

Among his publications and presentations are Perceptions of Residence Halls at the University of Oklahoma – A Focus Group Approach; Leadership Training Ideas for Involving Youth, Parents, School and the Community in Prevention; Workbook for School, Police, Community, Youth Committees Workshop; Community Leader’s Guide, the Young Oklahoman Drinking Driver Alternative Project; and The Oklahoma Challenge Facilitators Guide.

 Major professional affiliations include Oklahoma College Personnel Association, Oklahoma Adult Education Association, Oklahoma community Education Association, Toastmasters International, Alpha Phi sigma, and the National Criminal Justice Honor Society.

Representative honors and awards include the Duane Clark Memorial Award for Highway Safety, 1997; National Highway Safety Administration Public Service Award, 1996; Oklahoma Safe Kids Seatbelt Award, 1993; National Commission Against Drunk Driving Distinguished Service Award in Prevention, 1990; Advertising Council Award of Merit, Oklahoma Challenge Video, 1988; Outstanding Staff Member, University of Oklahoma Student Association, 1993; and the University of Oklahoma Managerial Staff Council Award of Excellence, 1982.

Linda A. Terrell, MHR
Executive Director

Linda Terrell has been a local, state, and national leader in the areas of injury prevention, traffic safety, sexual violence, community/youth development, substance abuse, child abuse prevention and treatment, advocacy, and health and wellness throughout her over 37-year non-profit career. She has led organizations as the Executive Director for over 27 of those years.    

Currently, Terrell serves as the Executive Director of Educational Alternatives, also known as the Oklahoma Regional Community Policing Institute, where Terrell empowers Oklahoma youth to take the Oklahoma Challenge by sharing with their friends the importance of driving distraction-free and wearing their seat belt. The Oklahoma Challenge is about saving lives!

Ms. Terrell received both her BA in Political Science and her MA in Human Relations from the University of Oklahoma.  Terrell is married to David Wilson enjoying a blended family of three daughters, a son, and three grandchildren.
